Philip A. Hart Plaza, named after the late US Senator, is a hard-surfaced park located on Detroit's beautiful riverfront in downtown Detroit, next to the Renaissance Center. The site of the park is where Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac landed in 1701 when he founded Fort Pontchartrain, which grew into the City of Detroit.

Opened in 1975, the park has a capacity of about 40,000 people, hosts many different events, and offers great views of many of Detroit's skyscrapers. Hart Plaza includes the Horace E. Dodge Memorial Fountain, which is located in the centre of the park.
